'Gully Boy' box office collection Day 5

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ' Gully Boy' is refusing to slow down at the box office and is going strong as the movie enters the weekdays. The Zoya Akhtar directorial has struck the right chords with the audience as the film has opened to an overwhelming response and has been liked by the audience and the critics alike. The film is based on the stories of underground street rappers of Mumbai. The young audience is the driving factor for the film. Loosely inspired by the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy, the film released on February 14. 

On Monday, the film has managed to rake in a total of Rs 8.65 crore on its fifth day at the box office. The film recorded a drop of around 35% on Monday. The film has managed to collect a total of Rs 80 crore in five days at the box office.

The movie is pacing towards the Rs 100 crore club and is gaining benefit from the positive word of mouth. The film is registering an exceptional business in metro cities.

The plot of the film revolves around Murad (Ranveer), a rapper from the slums of Mumbai, who tries to break free and rise above his socio-economic status with his street rap. Despite being pulled down repeatedly, he beats all the odds to become a successful rapper. Set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, the film is inspired by the lives of underground street rappers Divine and Naezy and throws light on Mumbai's rap culture.

Uri The Surgical Strike 39th Day and Manikarnika 25th Day Box Office

More than a month back released, Uri The Surgical Strike is heading unaffectedly at the box office despite having the new Hindi offering Gully Boy in the opposite. Even in its sixth week, Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal & Mohit Raina starrer is getting an exceptional response from the audience nationwide.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the highly-appreciated war drama has passed the 6th weekend on a strong note and did the business of 6.92 crores which included 1.20 crore on Friday, 2.51 crores on - 320 Cr Saturday & 3.21 crores on Sunday. On 6th Monday, the film remained steady and did the business of 1.32 crore.

After 39 days, the total collection of Uri The Surgical Strike has become 227.21 croresincluding the business of 218.97 crores from the last 5 weeks at the domestic box office. As per the current trend, it is expected to rake near 230 crores by the end of this week.

On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika has slowed down now due to the release of Gully Boy. In the 4th weekend, it did the business of 1.60 crore with 0.35 crore on Friday, 0.55 crore on Saturday & 0.70 crore on Sunday. On 4th Monday, the period drama faced a significant drop and minted 0.25 crore.

With this, the total collection of Manikarnika after 25 days has become 96.60 crores including the business of 94.75 crores from the last 3 weeks. Now it seems difficult for the film to join the 100-crore club at the domestic box office.

After a fantastic opening day of 19.40 crore,Gully Boy dropped on its second day. This was expected too since Thursday had a Valentine’s Day advantage whereas it was a regular Friday post. That said, one still expected better than 13.10 crore that came on Friday and 18.65 Cr on Saturday.

Gully Boy performed well on its first 3 days at the box office and earned 51.15 Cr India Net.

Gully Boy had an overall 55%-60% on Sunday, 17th February 2019.

Gully Boy Box Office Day 2 Collections: After a fantastic opening day of 19.40 crore,Gully Boy dropped on its second day. This was expected too since Thursday had a Valentine’s Day advantage whereas it was a regular Friday post that. Moreover, a major junk of first day audience had already been exhausted.

That said, one still expected better than 13.10 crore that came on Friday since the film had seen largely good reviews coming its way with the target audience liking it as well. A number in 14-15 crore range would have been even more promising.

Still, the film has collected 32.50 crore already and that’s good because at least this much amount is set to be accumulated between today and tomorrow as well. That would place this Zoya Akhtar film quite well at the Box Office.

For Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film is yet another success in the making. Though a 100 crore run is pretty much on the cards, upswing between today and tomorrow would have a telling on how far would the film go in its lifetime run. If the film goes beyond the major cities as well and finds traction in at least the B, if not the C centers, then Gully Boy could well emerge as a biggie.
