Storyline
Finally Today I got to watch the most awaited film of the year "Gully Boy." I was so much excited for this, that i travelled in rain to watch it. Zoya Akhtar has done it again. After helming some brilliant films like Luck By Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and the underwhelming Dil Dhadakne Do, Zoya changes gear with Gully Boy. Gully Boy may seem like a movie about the underground rappers but actually, it is much more than that. The movie is mainly about human relations, connections, emotions and dynamics. What makes this a special film,is its execution and very meaningful cinematography. Even if you are not a fan of Hip Hop, still you will be able appreciate the underdog and heartfelt story.
Screenplay
Screenplay is so smooth and engaging. The struggling life of Ranveer is going to win your hearts for sure. there are several scenes in the movie that will hit you right in the feels. I loved the friendship dynamics. It all felt so organic and real. A scene featuring Vijay Verma and Ranveer Singh towards the end will choke you up. And Ranveer and Alia's chemistry is too cute to be true. They are like a house on fire.
Acting
Ranveer Singh was born to play this role. He is the most versatile actor at present. I seriously can't believe he is the same guy who played Khilji and Simmba. I don't think any other actor could've pulled off this role the way Ranveer did. He explodes when he raps and gives a terrific performance throughout. He is a pro at rapping. Aliaa Bhatt is show stealer. Her screen presence is definitely going to entertain you with her quirky dialogues. Making debut on the big screen, Sidhant Chaturvedi makes the character of an experienced rapper his own. He stands tall with Ranveer Singh. His performance is so natural that many might confuse him for a real-life rapper. Vijay Raaz, Sheeba Chaddha, Amruta Subhash, Vijay Maurya and Kalki Koechlin are all good in their parts.
Direction
There is no filmmaker better than Zoya Akhtar who can portray and handle human complexities in such a brilliant way. Gully Boy will surely be counted amongst her best work. She has got into the life of slums to present them as real as it is – they are exactly the same as shown in Gully Boy. No one in Bollywood understands the characters as Zoya does.
Music
Music is the best part of film. Mark my words, you are going to play it on loop. The meaningful lyrics are icing on the cake. All the rap songs work in favour of the film as none of it is forced. Doori, Meri Gully Mein and Apna Time Aayega being the best of the lot. Also, Aazadi song will hit hard on screen. Rap battles are a sheer treat to eyes. You Can't Help Yourself yelling "Bohot Hard" during them.

Writing
Writing of film is of the highest order. How the characters are written, is beyond words. Like the scene when Murad's father (Vijay Raaz) re-marries. The silence in that scene speaks louder than words. The movie is filled with such gems. There’s a line in the film where the character MC Sher (Siddhant Chaturvedi) says, “Agar duniya mein sab comfortable hote toh rap kaun karta?” There are such more powerful dialogues in the film.

My Views
I just want To Say, "Film Bohot Hard Hai Bhai, Angar Hai Angar ." There rarely comes a film which has no flaws. Watch it for Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Sidhant's dazzling performances. And moreover, watch it for the master filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. Hats off to her. This one's a winner. Film has emotions and humour all over and the climax is bound to give you goosebumps and You are surely going to Whistle and do hooting. I am going with 5 stars.
